I'm an engineer and creative technologist with a passion for creating products that help people live better. I believe great products begin with a deep understanding human desires, are conceived through iteration and failure, and succeed by obsessing over the details.
Essential is a design consultancy that partners with clients to design and commercialize products in the medical, consumer, and industrial sectors. I led multidisciplinary teams through product development activities, including brainstorm sessions, product architecture definition, detailed CAD refinement, and design for manufacture.
As an intern at IDEO, I worked on a range of projects, from prototyping softgoods components for a wearable pain management device to live-prototyping retail concepts for a major consumer appliance brand.
Nima builds connected devices that test food for unwanted ingredients, such as gluten and allergens. I worked with Nima's cofounders to build the first functional prototype of their product, leading to multiple patents and seed funding.
I worked with a team at GE Global Research to design and build VehicleForge - a web platform used to crowdsource engineering designs for the US military. The VehicleForge program went on to crowdsource the design of an amphibious infantry assault vehicle.
As a graduate student, I explored how crowdsourcing can be used to augment organizations' internal design processes. My master's thesis studied the collective creativity of crowds and revealed interesting links between diversity and the novelty of ideas generated by the crowd.
